To Bento or not to bento...

That was the question.
First I fell in love with Kelly's. She is a quilt machine and has a great eye for color! I loved the before and the after, even though I'm not usually a Bento fan.

Then Tracey made one! Again, I loved the square in square AND the Bento'd versio, but I still wasn't convinced. Is the Bento just too busy for me??

If it's a boy quilt top

I had to make a quilt for my niece to roll around on (and barf on) so I decided to talk the plunge. Here's my fabric stack.

Since this is sort of a birthday present, I'll show the finished quilt next week on my sister's 30th birthday!

  1. There's something about the bento box. The whole is better than the sum of the parts. I've made a one & will probably make another some day. It just makes a nice quilt.

  2. I'm still trying to persuade myself on this one. I've seen some great looking ones and some that really were just busy, but you look like you have fairly simple patterns on your fabrics so it should look fine :o)

  3. I was really nervous when Kelly and Tracey decided to cut up their blocks! The regular version looks so great as it is. But I like the bento version more! I'm not sure I'd be able to do it.

  5. I have to say I'm really happy with my little quilt, and I was telling Kelly not to cut up her blocks. :) (I'm binding mine now)...

The blocks come together really quickly (I was surprised)... you can always decide after you make them. I like how the bento distributed the fabrics all over the whole quilt better.
