A dress!

A few days ago I posted a gorgeous yellow dress that I wanted to try to recreate. It was a disaster! I made a muslin and just couldn't get it to work right.

Plan B was to find a free pattern / tutorial and try again. I found this pattern at BurdaStyle and decided that it was exactly what I wanted. It even has that peep hole in the back!

Again, I made a muslin and realized that this pattern is about a size zero, which I am not, but the darts were in the right places, so I lucked out there! I cut the pattern pieces a bit larger on my real fabric and it was perfect.

It's even lined! And has a fancy invisible zipper.

I decided to add that band to the sleeves and am so glad that I did!

I look a bit ragged today, so I'll get pictures of me wearing it this weekend. ;)

If anyone else is interested in making one of these I have the basic steps I followed (since of course I made changes!!), but don't have step by step pictures.

  1. Lovely details in this Ali with the zipper, keyhole neck and button loop, and it is lined- wow!

  2. Good think you're not my neighbor, or I might steal it! I love the details, but the fabric! Wow. Gorgeous.

  3. Ooh, that looks lovely, looking forward to seeing it being modelled :o)

  4. This is so pretty! I love the details, the sleeves, that huge button on the back! Now I need one....

  5. Man, a dress in a week - you are amazing. It is so lovely, love all the details too, the lining, the arm bands, it really looks professional.

Thanks for dropping by. Is something on your mind?
