Writing a book

I had the idea to write a book after I went to Quilt Market in SLC - so May 2011. The book comes out February 2014. I'm not saying that all books take this long, but it's not a short process. I spent a good amount of time on the designs and proposal so it didn't get sent in until October 2011. Then it sat. And I had kind of given up. But in July 2012 I got the call that they wanted it! They said to expect a year and a half from that point and that's just about where we are.

I thought that I would share some insight into the writing and publishing process from an author's perspective. My perspective. There are so many people involved that not everyone has the same experience.

Wednesdays in January I'll share my thoughts on the following topics.

January 8: Idea and Proposal

January 15: Agents and Publishers

January 22: Design and Layout

January 29: Edits and contest info!

  5. I will look forward to each installment. I have no plans to write a book but the whole process intrigues me. As a former lab rat I love the concept too. Congratulations on seeing this come to fruition.
